In a few days, the city of Nice and its region will resume their old autumn and winter habits after a season that has been very positive. But while many tourists choose, every year, to visit our magnificent Côte d’Azur, Nice Première wondered where the residents of Nice could be going on vacation to get away from this scenery that nonetheless attracts thousands of summer visitors.
But while many tourists come every year to visit our magnificent Côte d’Azur, Nice Première wondered where the residents of Nice could be going on vacation to get away from this scenery that nonetheless attracts thousands of summer visitors.
To answer our questions, we continue the vacation tour with Marie-Chantal Gomiz – Communication Manager of Casino Ruhl, Jean-Christophe Picard – candidate for the next Nice municipal elections (PRG), Bertrand Baraudou – designer of the For Sale gallery, Jean-Pierre Mangiapan, Regional and General Councilor, who will reveal to us their last vacation and their plans for this upcoming return to work.
Nice Première: Where did you spend your summer vacation?
Marie-Chantal Gomiz: Not really on vacation….In Nice, with just a getaway to Corsica in July for the Patrimonio Guitar Festival!
NP: What was your best memory?
MCG: The beautiful concerts of the summer precisely in Corsica in Nice and in Juan, including the discovery of Kyle Easwood’s band!!!
NP: What will you do with these last days of August?
MCG: Continue the beach on weekends, and night outings to listen to local music groups!
NP: It’s almost back to school. What are your plans?
MCG: Many projects to accomplish, actions to implement on a purely professional level, for Casino Ruhl and Casino Barrière in Menton and also in the local associative and musical sphere!
Nice Première: Where did you spend your summer vacation?
Jean-Christophe Picard: I didn’t go on vacation. Someone has to stay and work while others take it easy! 🙂
Actually, I prefer to enjoy the Côte d’Azur in the summer. Moreover, this quieter period allows me to reconnect with everyone I’ve lost touch with due to lack of time. I also read a lot of books.
As for my vacation, I prefer to take it off-season, abroad, with my backpack… when tourists aren’t there anymore!
NP: What was your best memory?
JCP: Since I didn’t leave, it’s from Nice and dates back to June 30… It’s the conference-debate I organized on the theme “What reforms for Justice?” which had a packed house. Moreover, it allowed me to welcome to Nice a loyal friend, Eric Halphen, whom I greatly respect. It’s always invigorating to see that you’re not alone in certain battles!
NP: What will you do with these last days of August?
JCP: On a personal level, I’ve been running a lot these days along the Gairaut canal: 3 times a week, minimum. Indeed, I’m training for the Amsterdam marathon which takes place on October 15, 2006.
In terms of my political activities, I’m currently reviewing CANCA files. I’m discovering certain things that concern me. I’ll communicate about this soon…
NP: It’s almost back to school. What are your plans?
JCP: As a member of the PRG national board, I will participate in preparing our next congress (October 21 and 22, 2006) and the upcoming presidential and legislative elections.
In my capacity as departmental spokesperson for the PRG, I will soon organize, in the 06, distributions of our national petition for the organization of primary elections “Italian style” (www.petition-primaires-a-gauche.com). This procedure would allow each political group to defend its ideas and debate them publicly, while avoiding a new “April 21”. With the constant increase in the number of declared candidates for the next presidential election, this increasingly appears to be a necessity…
Nice Première: Where did you spend your summer vacation?
Bertrand Baraudou: In Nice…no vacation yet!!!
NP: What was your best memory?
BB: The NUZIQ concert at Albert First Garden…and the opening of MONSTERS OF SOUND at the gallery..
NP: What will you do with these last days of August?
BB: Go on vacation!
NP: It’s almost back to school. What are your plans?
BB: An exhibition by THIERRY LAGALLA entitled “O LO PINTRE!” opening on Saturday, September 16, plus (on the façade and in the back room) a few works by a Dutch artist still unknown in France, HAN HOOGERBRUGGE, to be continued…!!
Nice Première: Where did you spend your summer vacation?
Jean-Pierre Mangiapan: I spent my vacation this year on the Côte d’Azur!!!
NP: What was your best memory?
JPM: A day at Boréon with a family visit to Alfa Park (Gaston’s wolves). Seeing my children and nephews amazed was a delight.
NP: What will you do with these last days of August?
JPM: I will resume my professional activities.
NP: It’s almost back to school. What are your plans?
JPM: Finalize the program for the bicentennial commemoration of Garibaldi.
