The death of a 25-year-old woman in a beauty salon in Nice is the subject of a judicial investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, July 27 in an establishment located on Auguste-Pégurier Street, in the west of the city. Three people, two women and one man, remained in police custody on Wednesday, July 29.
According to the initial information communicated by the Republic’s Prosecutor in Nice, Damien Martinelli, the victim went to the salon for an aesthetic procedure. Emergency services, dispatched to the scene for a medical emergency that occurred early in the afternoon, were unable to resuscitate the young woman, who died at the location.
An investigation to determine the circumstances of death
The causes of death remain unknown at this stage. The Nice prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into illegal practice of medicine, involuntary manslaughter and administration of harmful substances. The investigation has been entrusted to the local criminal investigation service.
In a statement, prosecutor Damien Martinelli confirms “the death on July 27, 2026 of a 25-year-old person in a beauty salon in Nice under circumstances which the investigation opened on the charges of illegal practice of medicine, involuntary manslaughter and administration of harmful substances aims to clarify.”
Two women, aged in their twenties and thirties respectively, as well as a man, were taken into police custody as part of the investigation.
According to several witness accounts reported by various media outlets, injections may have been administered before the medical emergency. This information has not, however, been confirmed by the judicial authorities. The investigation will need to establish the exact circumstances of the facts and determine any possible responsibilities.
The establishment in question offers, according to its website, manicure services, hair smoothing and extensions, as well as eyelash lifts and extensions. No other official information has been communicated regarding the nature of the procedure undergone by the victim.
