The city of Nice is organizing a prevention week from June 1st to 5th with free type 2 diabetes screening in several neighborhoods. Many partners are mobilizing to promote early detection and guide residents toward an appropriate care pathway.
The National Diabetes Prevention Week takes place from June 1st to 5th, 2026 throughout the Nice territory. The Nice municipality is organizing an information, prevention and type 2 diabetes screening campaign with the support of numerous partners. This edition marks an important milestone thanks to the commitment of the Nice University Hospital, now involved in the field actions carried out as part of diabetes population responsibility. This cooperation remains centered around a common objective: promoting early detection of diabetes, improving access to prevention and facilitating the care pathway for residents.
Type 2 diabetes remains a silent disease that can lead to serious complications. In France, more than 4.5 million people are affected. One in seven people is unaware they have diabetes. These figures highlight the importance of screening and prevention. In Nice, this disease is a major public health concern, particularly among elderly people and at-risk populations.
Throughout the week, free prevention and screening activities are offered without appointment. These activities promote early screening and secure the care pathway for people identified as at-risk. Participants can benefit from capillary blood glucose measurement, blood pressure monitoring, personalized prevention advice and referral to a healthcare professional if necessary.
