The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has just announced a local lockdown in the capital for three weeks. While the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, held a press conference this Thursday regarding the health crisis, 20 French departments are now under surveillance following the display of a rather critical incidence rate. Here’s the Covid update…

“We must delay a new strict lockdown as much as possible,” the Prime Minister specified in his press conference this Thursday. The figures on Covid-19 currently appear quite critical, but they do not warrant declaring a state of emergency to the extent of implementing a new national strict lockdown like in March 2020. Jean Castex appeals to the French people, especially those living in the most affected areas, to remain vigilant and adhere to the safety measures in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants.
