Handball: The French women’s team faces Iceland at the Azur Arena Antibes

Latest News

France’s first match for the qualification of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2016 will take place this Thursday, October 8th at the Azur Arena Antibes against Iceland.

The French team will thus be very much awaited on the Cรดte dโ€™Azur to take on this new challenge and secure a good result that will be crucial for the continuation of this qualifying phase, which they are contesting with Iceland, Switzerland, and Germany.

This is also a first for Handball in the large Antibes arena, which was inaugurated in August 2013 and usually hosts the SHARKS basketball team, who were promoted to Pro A after a very successful 2014-2015 season.

For this international event in Antibes, the Cรดte dโ€™Azur Handball League has decided to entrust the organization to women.

For President Jean-Luc BAUDET, this is not a feminist favor but a genuine recognition of the skills of the women who have surrounded him for many years and are often the driving forces behind projects in the region.

For the organization, it goes without saying that the priority will be to fill the arena for this first handball match at the Azur Arena, which can accommodate 4,000 spectators.
