On Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 9 AM to 12:30 PM at the Day Reception Center – 14, avenue of the XVe Nice – the City of Nice, through its Communal Social Action Center, is implementing a program to improve the health of the homeless population, in accordance with the Local Public Health Plan.

Throughout the year, “Health Solidarity Days” are organized within the C.C.A.S structures to optimize care and access to healthcare for the homeless population.

Building on the 2012 World Health Day, a special day is organized at the Day Reception Center to:

– Improve access to healthcare for vulnerable populations;
– Assist individuals who are often far removed from healthcare pathways, despite being at increased risk of violence, chronic diseases, and certain communicable diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV, in accessing care;
– Promote prevention, health promotion, and health education;
– Offer on-site vaccinations.

A general practitioner, dermatologist, psychiatrist, nurses, social workers, and interpreters will be available and attentive to the public on this day, offering:

– Awareness and prevention activities on various topics: Nutrition, with a focus on a dietary breakfast; Health: hepatitis, HIV, cancer, vaccination; Addictions: tobacco, alcohol;
– Health assessments and consultations with a general practitioner, psychiatrist, and dermatologist;
– Offers for blood tests or chest X-rays at the Saint-Roch Hospital screening center;
– On-site vaccinations;
– Information and assistance in securing rights entitlements (State Medical Assistance, etc.);
– Evaluation of the initiative.
