After a year touring French stages from Paris to Marseille, including stops in Lyon and even Papeete, the Coquinou is making a detour to Nice for two evenings that are sure to give your zygomatic muscles a workout. On your marks, get set… Laugh!

coquinou-nice.jpg Comedian, dancer, singer… The performing arts fairies made no mistake when they watched over Vincent Piguet. A biting humor, the perfect look for the part, and a “good face” make the Coquinou an endearing character that has enjoyed great success on French stages.

Join us this Saturday, November 9th at 8 PM and next Wednesday, the 13th at 8:30 PM for a good dose of humor and cheer right in the heart of Old Nice.

Nice Premium: Vincent, the Coquinou is making a return visit to Nice?

Vincent Piguet: Yes, for 2 exceptional dates, before heading to Lyon for 2 months and settling in Paris. I’ll have the pleasure of gracing the stage of the Théâtre du Cours in Old Nice for a final version of my One-Man Show “Vincent Piguet is a Coquinou” this Saturday, November 9th at 8 PM and Wednesday 13th at 8:30 PM. Make sure to reserve as seating is limited!

NP: What’s new since your last visit to the French Riviera?

VP: I’ve performed the show extensively across mainland France, as well as in Corsica and Tahiti. It has therefore evolved a lot. On TV, I’ve made two appearances and wrote about ten sketches for Laurent Ruquier’s show “On ne demande qu’à en rire” on France 2.

Regarding theater, I’ve played the lead role in two plays by Georges Feydeau “Léonie is Ahead” and “On Purge Baby,” currently on tour in France. I’ve also just written my first Boulevard play, which I’m quite proud of. And finally, in cinema, last week I acted alongside Benoit Poolvoerde, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Chiara Mastroiani in Benoit Jacquot’s latest film “3 Hearts.”

NP: A new stage in your career in Paris?

VP: Yes, because although I will be performing my One-Man Show there, I will mostly be “acting” a lot more, whether in theater or film. I also plan to soon join some writing teams for television.

NP: Collaborations and theater too, I believe?

VP: In a month, I have a meeting with Chantal Ladesou for a first reading of my play. I’m keeping my fingers crossed because she would be perfect for the role.

NP: What does Nice mean to you?

VP: Always good memories from both the stages and the city itself. I’ve always been warmly welcomed by the people of Nice. And, since the weather is always beautiful and I love to have an aperitif on the Cours Saleya before going to enjoy a good socca in Old Nice… Well, you’ll see me around for a long time!

NP: If we attend the Théâtre du Cours (DATES), what can we expect to discover?

VP: A whimsical story with a real plot punctuated by very funny and sometimes biting sketches. I sing, I dance, and above all, I make people laugh, well, up until now (LAUGHS)

NP: Finally, the Coquinou will be a happy Coquinou if…?

VP: If the people of Nice come out in great numbers to applaud me and then invite me to party in Old Nice afterward. Issa!
