The video game competition League of Legends has come to an end. Here’s a look back at two days marked by some protests from the supporters.
They had been eagerly anticipated by fans for weeks, the LFL Days closed their doors a few days ago. It was an opportunity to assess these two days of intense duels on the stages and in the halls of the Nikaïa palace. In total, 5,000 people attended the ten matches that were offered. Ten teams faced off in games averaging 40 minutes each.
The teams could count on their supporters. They fired up the stands for two days. The most numerous, “the blue wall,” the supporters of Karmine Corp, unfortunately, couldn’t taste victory. Their team suffered two defeats in front of their home crowd. The show also continued with a parody of the singer The Weekend. It was content creator Grimkujow who performed under the name “The Monday.”
In terms of results, the teams BK Roguet, Gentlmates, and BDSA all achieved a flawless performance. The team of content creators Squeezie, Gotaga, and Brawks had the luxury of defeating Karmine Corp in their first on-stage event. The team was created just a few months ago. In terms of spectacle and performance, it was a perfect performance for the organizers. However, not everything was rosy.
A small issue to report
Before the first match, the ultras from various teams protested against the organizers. A banner reading “Respect for the Ultras” appeared in the hall. The supporters then left the stands to show their dissatisfaction. They complained about having received the tickets for the fans too late to organize travel under good conditions. They also criticized the allocation and capacity of the stands. Finally, they regretted that Nice was once again hosting the event.
Bertrand Amar, the director of video games at Webedia, met promptly with the fan representatives. They reached some compromises, and things were able to return to normal. It is worth noting that this was the first time an event of such magnitude was organized in video games at such a high level of competitiveness.
