Written in 1986 by Gildas Bourdet, winner of the 1999 Moliรจre award for directing, who also writes dramas for radio and television, “Little Theater of No Importance” gives us an opportunity to see again a duo that charmed us in “An Open Couple on Two Fronts” by Dario Fo and Franca Rame, last month at the Thรฉรขtre de la Citรฉ in Nice. To tell you everything, these “reunions” almost didn’t take place… Deprived of rehearsal and performance spaces in Vence due to the closure of the Sundial Theater, the acting couple was still able to prepare for their stage in Antibes thanks to the town of Villeneuve-Loubet which quickly made a room available to them, thus showing its true support for this company. Without this, we would not have been able to see this series of four short plays, named “Little Theater of No Importance” which takes us on a nighttime journey, encountering characters who are comical or threatening but endearing.

From the nightclub to the prostitute’s sidewalk, from the janitor’s lodge to the apartment of a young couple, we witness the meeting of a man and a woman, either a familiar encounter or quite unexpected. The banality of everyday situations is suddenly swept away by an event or a disconcerting behavior, giving rise to exchanges that are most ludicrous and hilarious. At night, not all cats are grey and the surprises are numerous. We can rely on Claire Tuloup and Denis Duthiew to attract and stun us in the most abracadabra situations.
