The former penal colony of the port of Nice has been transformed into an exceptional cultural hub.
“Culture everywhere and for everyone” is a priority for the Department in implementing its cultural and event policy, stated President Eric Ciotti during the inauguration ceremony.
A significant site in Nice’s history, this new cultural venue, named Galerie Lympia, will offer an original, eclectic, and high-quality cultural experience, showcasing its immense heritage.
This new cultural space, which will rank among prestigious exhibition venues of excellence, inaugurated its program by highlighting the perspective of the famous Nice-born press photographer Raph Gatti.
An exhibition realized thanks to the exceptional efforts of Andrée Gatti, who worked for months to sort, organize, and select the photographs most representative of her husband’s work, particularly those reflecting the friendships he shared with numerous creators.
Galerie Lympia, the departmental cultural space at the port of Nice, consists of two buildings that do not connect with each other:
• the former penal colony, with an area of approximately 230 m², complemented by a 280 m² rooftop terrace that can serve as a reception area,
• the clock pavilion, a two-story building that overlooks the terrace.
