They are of different ages: one is just 20 years old, the other two are in their thirties.
They don’t have the same music style: rap for the Popstar breakthrough, “Soul Rebel” for Corneille’s friend, and folk-rock for Véronique Sanson’s son.
Yes, these boys are different, but that didn’t stop them from coming together this Sunday on the Promenade des Anglais to support the same cause: the “Operation Pièces Jaunes.”
M. Pokora, Gage, and Chris Stills, three men behind the microphones of Nice-Première.
Nice-Première: What does the Operation Pièces Jaunes mean to you?
M. Pokora: It’s a chance to make a difference, to bring happiness to children in hospitals, and whenever I’m called for a good cause, I do everything possible to be there.
N-P: Do you support other associations?
M.P.: Sidaction… various organizations that reach out to me.
N-P: Have you ever been to Nice before?
M.P.: I’ve been here many times. It’s a pity there’s no sun today. Yes, that’s very, very unfortunate.
N-P: Do you have any memories associated with the Côte d’Azur?
M.P.: The NRJ Music Awards in Cannes. Nice? I should be passing through in the fall for my tour at Nikaïa.
N-P: What’s new with you?
M.P.: My new album came out last Monday and it’s going to top the album charts, so I’m thrilled. The journey continues, I’m over the moon and I’m working on my tour starting in May.
N-P: What themes does your album cover?
M.P.: Conflicts, people, love, parties, and my mother.
N-P: What’s your motto?
M.P.: The only thing you fail at is what you don’t attempt.
N-P: What’s the greatest proof of love someone could show you?
M.P.: Proof every day. To see it in the eyes of those who love me.
Nice-Première: What does Operation Pièces Jaunes mean to you?
Chris Stills: A movement to help children in hospitals, a major charity that deserves recognition as one of the most successful since it’s been going on for 10 years now. There are hundreds of projects that have sprung from this. So for me, as a new father, it’s now important to help children and when I have time I donate to charities, like today. It’s a great cause.
N-P: Do you support other associations?
C.S.: Yes, when I can, well, when I am asked. I support associations that involve the environment and hospitals to help the sick.
N-P: Is this your first time in Nice?
C.S.: No, no. I came on tour with my mother; it wasn’t long ago, not far from here. I also came for holidays, it’s very nice. It’s a shame about the weather; I’m very disappointed. Coming from California, the palm trees remind me of “my home sweet home.”
N-P: If I say Nice, what do you think of?
C.S.: Water with the scent of sunscreen, the beach, the Côte d’Azur is especially this color of blue Mediterranean that exists only here; it’s magnificent! It’s legendary!!
N-P: You just released your first album?
C.S.: It’s my second album.
N-P: Oops, sorry.
C.S.: That’s fine, you know, the other one is very old. Actually, yes, this is my first album in seven years. It was released by V2 France last October.
