Today marks the beginning of an extreme sports challenge for English content creator and athlete Seb Harris. From June 22 to July 21, 2026, he and his best friend Oscar will cover 60 kilometers per day. The departure took place at 6 a.m. (English time) in Maidenhead, with the finish line on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.
This initiative called “London to Nice” aims to raise funds for the League Against Cancer with a target of 50,000 € for the 1,800 kilometers covered. According to the organization, “The two runners will cross England to Tower Bridge, cross the English Channel from Dover, then travel down France passing through Lille, Paris, Lyon, Valencia, Aix-en-Provence and Cannes, before taking their final steps on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice“. The money raised will be used to finance the League’s actions “for sick people and their caregivers“, support research and provide prevention.
“Four years ago, my father was diagnosed with liver cancer”
The challenge also has a personal origin. Indeed, Oscar lost his father who himself had cancer. A few months later, it was Seb‘s father who was diagnosed with liver cancer and who is still fighting it today.
“Through endurance sports, we have learned that when the body reaches its limits, it is often the mind that takes over. We have seen this strength in those who face illness with courage. So, in difficult moments, we will think of them. This race is much more than a journey across France. It is a way to give more time, more memories and more hope to those who need it. Behind every kilometer, there will be faces, families and battles“, the two friends declared.
Seb also explained in an Instagram post: “I realized that I was often worried about things that ultimately didn’t matter much. That’s what drove me to take on extreme physical challenges.“
Considerable preparation
To accomplish the challenge, Seb and Oscar had to prepare mentally and physically. They had already run more than 481 km from Los Angeles to Las Vegas as part of the Speed Project. But this time, the challenge is on a whole different scale.
In addition to physical training, the two friends had to plan everything they would bring with them for a month of running. Additionally, Seb had a hip problem. He therefore received physiotherapy sessions provided directly by his mother, a professional physiotherapist. The athletes also prepared their camper van and gathered strength for the departure.
Thus this challenge shows what some are willing to do for an important cause: the fight against cancer. Many athletes take on challenges to raise funds for the League Against Cancer. For example, in October 2026, Manu-tara and the firefighters of Gironde will spend “four days in complete autonomy in the Moroccan desert under 40°C” during the Marathon des Sables. There is also Jonathan who will do the UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) in August 2026. Challenges that could inspire other athletes to imagine, in turn, new challenges for the fight against cancer.
