MotoGP: A Complicated Weekend for Quartararo

Latest News

Finally in rhythm during qualifying yesterday (4th), Fabio Quartararo had the chance to have a solid weekend. Third yesterday during the sprint race, the Nice native crashed today during the Grand Prix.

Saturdayโ€™s truth is not necessarily Sundayโ€™s. Fabio Quartararo experienced this today at the Dutch GP in Assen. Starting in 4th position on the grid, the Nice native was eager to confirm his strong performance from the day before. In very different conditions compared to yesterday, Fabio Quartararo faltered at the start. Despite a good braking at the first corner, the Yamaha rider found himself on the outside of the kerb. A position that caused him to lose eight places (12th). At the end of the first lap, the two French riders in the MotoGP field were battling on the track. A clash lasting only three short laps… While trying to overtake the Avignonnais, Fabio lost the front end on acceleration and took Johann Zarco with him. As a result, both French riders ended up out of the race.

Fabio Quartararo already injured in the foot

Having arrived injured in the Netherlands after hurting himself during training earlier in the week, the images of the Nice native after his fall were not very reassuring. Quartararo finally managed to get up with the help of Zarco and the track marshals. Limping, the Nice native headed to the medical center to have his fractured toe and sore ankle examined. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was confirmed a few hours later.

With this crash, โ€œEl Diabloโ€ finds himself 130 points behind the leader of the standings and the day’s race winner, Francesco Bagnaia. It is safe to say that after only eight Grand Prix races, the hunt for the world championship title already seems more than compromised.

The only positive point is the five-week break observed by the MotoGP paddock. Itโ€™s a chance to recover and come back stronger at Silverstone during the weekend of August 4 to 6.
