Municipal Elections 2026: first round results in the Alpes-Maritimes

The first round of the 2026 municipal elections confirmed, in several major municipalities in the department, the strength of the incumbent teams. Despite abstention often close to or exceeding 50%, the incumbent mayors came out well ahead in Antibes, Cannes, Grasse and Beausoleil. No second round will be necessary in these five cities. On the other hand, Menton will have to wait until next Sunday to learn the name of its future mayor.

Cannes: David Lisnard crushes the first round

Unsurprisingly, in Cannes, David Lisnard (LDVD) confirms his local grip by achieving a massive score of 81.11% of votes cast, or 19,721 votes. Turnout remains very low at 46.74%, with 24,668 voters out of 52,779 registered. His competitors remain far behind: Lucas Mussio (RN) obtains 11.66% and Michel Hugues (LUG) 7.23%. David Lisnard wins 45 seats on the municipal council and 27 on the community council, consolidating an almost hegemonic majority.

Antibes: Jean Leonetti triumphs again

Another crushing victory, that of Jean Leonetti (LUD). The incumbent mayor of Antibes achieves an equally impressive score with 66.64% of votes cast, or 17,645 votes. Turnout in Antibes reached 50.27%, with 27,057 voters out of 53,827 registered. The left led by Michèle Muratore (LUG) obtains 9.64%, while the RN list of Hugo Muriel gains 18.20%. The LFI list of Adrien Nouet comes last with 5.51%. Jean Leonetti wins 42 seats on the municipal council and 25 on the community council.

Grasse: Jérôme Viaud widely re-elected

In Grasse, Jérôme Viaud (LLR) is returning for a new term. He won very clearly with 57.09% of votes, or 9,927 votes. Turnout is also not very high at 50.07%. The RN of Jean-Paul Camerano reaches 18.36%, followed by Paul Euzière (LDVG) at 13.25%. The radical left list led by Leïla Tonnerre (LEXG) obtains 7.47%. Jérôme Viaud wins 37 municipal seats and 23 community seats, confirming his local anchor.

Cagnes-sur-Mer: Bryan Masson wins in the first round

The big surprise came from Cagnes-sur-Mer where Bryan Masson (LUXD) achieved a very remarkable performance by winning the mayorship in the first round. He won 50.21% of votes cast, or 10,486 votes. Turnout reached 59.14%, one of the highest in the department. Louis Nègre (LUD), former mayor, comes second with only 33.70%. The other lists remain very minority: 8.11% for Cedric Garoyan (LUG), 5.15% for Philippe Touzeau Menoni (LDVC) and 2.82% for Pierre Piacentini (LDVD). Bryan Masson obtains 35 municipal seats and eight community seats.

Beausoleil: Gérard Spinelli well ahead

Finally in Beausoleil, Gérard Spinelli (LDVD) the incumbent mayor dominated the ballot with 54.09% of votes, or 1,574 votes. Turnout among Beausoleil residents remained low (45.66%), but sufficient to secure him a new majority. His son, Nicolas Spinelli (LDIV) against whom the incumbent mayor waged a relentless struggle obtains 37.90%, while Livio Daniele Orsi (LDIV) gains 8.01%. Gérard Spinelli wins 26 municipal seats and six community seats.

Menton: Alexandra Masson ahead in a highly fragmented landscape

In Menton, the first round was distinguished by high turnout for the department (62.01%, or 14,863 voters out of 23,967 registered). In a particularly fragmented configuration with six lists competing, it is ultimately Alexandra Masson (LUXD) who comes out ahead with 36.25% of votes cast, or 5,276 votes. She ahead of Louis Sarkozy (LUD), who obtains 18.01%, and Sandra Paire (LDVD), credited with 19.74%. The other lists remain behind: 15.09% for Florent Champion, 9.05% for Laurent Lanquar-Castiel and 1.87% for Émilie Ria. The people of Menton will therefore have to go through a second round next Sunday in a week that promises to be marked by alliance politics.
