National Symposium on the First 1,000 Days

Latest News

The national conference on the first 1,000 days took place at the heart of the Sardinian palace to discuss this extremely important period of development, construction, health, and well-being of the baby.

This conference aims to raise awareness of the importance of the first 1,000 days for children. It is essential for the baby, for proper development, construction, health, and well-being throughout their life. This period extends from the 4th month of pregnancy until the child turns 3. During this period, the child is very vulnerable, but it is also an opportunity to build them in the healthiest way possible.

This conference, intended for childcare professionals, was an opportunity to give the floor to the scientific community of the first 1,000 days, particularly to Boris Cyrulnik. Boris Cyrulnik is a neuropsychiatrist and president of the “1,000 first days” commission. For this doctor, this period is “where everything begins”. By creating an emotional bond around the baby, it will promote their “development”.

The program is organized around three main themes from the report, namely: becoming a parent, discovering your child, and being supported. Each theme is organized into a plenary conference by an expert, providing the opportunity for the expert to explain the ideas supported in favor of this period and the progress since the report was submitted. Also on the agenda are round tables and testimonies regarding the practical implementation in the field at the local and national levels.

What is the House of the First 1,000 Days

The House of the First 1,000 Days, supported by the Alpes-Maritimes Department, opened on January 19, 2023. It is the first structure created and managed by a Department. The launch of this project has allowed for the measurement of the impact of enhanced prevention on the child policy supported by the Departmental Council.

It is a place of support and services that meets the needs of the child and parents. The Alpes-Maritimes House of the First 1,000 Days offers a range of services and advice for pregnant women, future parents, parents, infants, and children under 3 years old. Thus, this establishment provides free occasional support to each resident of the Maralpin region who wishes, with a “parentality step” at one or several moments during their 1,000-day journey with the help of professionals (child psychiatrist, neuropsychologist, psychiatrist…).

In Nice, on average, 10 new families are welcomed per week, with 592 families benefiting from activities, 8,087 “visits”, 1,004 group workshops held, and nearly 700 people trained.
