This Tuesday, on the International Human Rights Day, the City of Nice pays tribute to an extraordinary woman from Nice, Simone Veil, by renaming the “Baumettes II” school group, located in the neighborhood where she spent her childhood, as the “Simone Veil-Baumettes School.”
The school’s entrance plaque and a portrait of Simone Veil will be unveiled during this homage ceremony, in the presence of students who will read selected texts and perform songs. A permanent exhibition on the life of Simone Veil will also be presented.
Furthermore, the City of Nice will present the fourth educational booklet in the collection it initiated in collaboration with the Ministry of Education on the sites and notable figures in the history of Nice: “Simone Veil, an Exceptional Woman.” This book, intended for fifth-grade students in public and private schools, recounts Simone Veil’s exemplary life filled with convictions, values, and commitments in the service of France.
