As in previous years, the Rendez-Vous des Associations will be the stage for the grand finale of the Niçoise cooking competition “Chef d’un Jour”. In addition to the adult competition, a contest for children aged 8 to 15 will highlight the best budding chef.
So, on Saturday, September 12, Niçoise cuisine enthusiasts will gather on stage to share their passion for the only cuisine in the world that bears the name of its city.
For the older participants, qualifying rounds by region allowed 9 candidates to advance to the final. For the younger ones, registration must be completed today to have a chance to participate in the live finale.
It’s very simple to apply: just send an email to franck.viano@nicecotedazur.org, specifying the child’s name, first name, address, ZIP Code, city, date of birth, and phone number. The first 8 complete applications will enter the competition.
Once selected, the competition begins!
The final will take place in two stages. First, the budding chef will present themselves to the jury — comprised of chefs, culinary instructors from Paul Augier and Greta, and specialists in Niçoise cuisine — by presenting a “Tourte de blettes” they have prepared in advance. The initial selection will eliminate four candidates, and the remaining will move on to the final round.
For the final challenge, contestants will have to prepare one of the emblematic Niçoise recipes live, within a limited timeframe, under the watchful and supportive eyes of the chefs and culinary instructors who will evaluate the execution and taste of the presented dishes.
So, kids aged 8 to 15, do you love cooking and know the main recipes of Niçoise cuisine? Do you enjoy lingering around your mother or grandmother on Sunday mornings while preparing meals? Don’t hesitate, this competition is for you!
Free registration until Saturday, September 4 via email at franck.viano@wanadoo.fr, with more information available by calling 04 97 13 35 85.
