Risk Prevention: “Kéfa?” a Bus Created by Young People for Young People

Latest News

Born from the reflections of the Young General Councillors during their 2004 mandate, “Kéfa?” is a bus created by young people for young people. It is funded by the General Council and operated by a prevention officer, a psychologist, and a sociologist coordinator from the Mutualité Française.

A true mobile prevention tool against addictive behaviors, the “Kéfa?” Youth Health Bus travels throughout the department with the aim of:

– establishing a dialogue with middle school students about the risks associated with the use of legal or illegal drugs, developing their critical thinking and autonomy in response to peer pressure,

– working with teachers on a prevention program to sustain interventions with middle school students (following the recommendations of the National Education),

– raising awareness among parents and families, through conferences, about risky behaviors.

A bus decorated in the colors of the “Kéfa?” campaign

In 2010, the Young General Councillors conducted an awareness and prevention operation on addictions: alcohol, drugs, and the internet. The originality of this truly expressive and innovative communication led the General Council to decorate its Youth Health Bus in the colors of this campaign.

A brochure to fight against misconceptions: alcohol makes you stronger, more attractive!!!

This operation was complemented by a brochure printed in 50,000 copies. It provides valuable advice to avoid the pitfalls of alcohol, drugs, and also cyberaddictions. Rich with testimonies and “true or false” questionnaires, it is uncompromising and highlights the risks associated with drugs: sexual abuse, alcohol poisoning, accidents, and debunks false beliefs.

In 2009, the Health Information Bus reached no less than 4,300 students in 8th and 9th grades across 31 schools, with satisfaction ratings of 8.3/10 from students and 9/10 from parents.
