Roland-Garros 2026: Valentin Vacherot withdraws, Diane Parry in control

After his impressive first-round victory, Valentin Vacherot, injured in the foot, preferred to withdraw from the rest of the tournament. Diane Parry, meanwhile, continues to shine on the Roland-Garros court and achieved a sensational third round at Paris.

Valentin Vacherot forced to withdraw before playing his second round

Already forced to withdraw from the last Masters 1000 in Rome, the Monegasque must also pull out of Roland-Garros 2026. The reason? A left foot injury that has been plaguing him for several weeks. During his first-round victory this Tuesday against Thomas Faurel, Vacherot required medical attention from the physio during the fourth set, which he ultimately won with difficulty.

When asked at the end of his match about the state of his foot, the Monegasque did not want to say too much: “It’s fine. It’s not perfect, but it’s not terrible either. I just need to be careful.” Finally, an MRI performed on Wednesday convinced Valentin Vacherot to withdraw from the tournament as a precaution. 

His initial opponent, Alejandro Tabilo, is therefore directly qualified for the third round, where he will face young Frenchman Moise Kouamé, who continues to impress by defeating Daniel Vallejo in 5 sets, at the end of an exceptional match on Suzanne Lenglen. 

Diane Parry delivers a strong performance by eliminating a seeded player on the main court

For her opening match at Roland-Garros 2026, the Frenchwoman defeated Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina. Starting poorly, the Frenchwoman prevailed in 3 sets. On Thursday, Diane Parry eliminated seeded number 30 Ann Li in 2 sets, 6/3-6/4.

The Nice native perfectly controlled her second round today in the Paris Grand Slam. Facing American Ann Li, Diane Parry first lost her serve quickly in the first set, but immediately broke back. At 4 games to 3, the Frenchwoman breaks her opponent’s serve and will finish convincingly, 6/3.

In the second set, the scenario is similar between the two players. Diane Parry makes the decisive break at 3 games all and will convert her second match point without hesitation, final score 6/3-6/4. Applied and in control, the Nice native wins 88% of points on her first serve and makes fewer unforced errors than her opponent today.

In the third round, Diane Parry will face another American, much better ranked, seeded number 6 Amanda Anisimova. The latter qualified via withdrawal after winning the first set 6/0.

Diane Parry is also competing in doubles with Fiona Ferro. The two players from the French Riviera will face the Cirstea / Kalinskaya pair this evening.
