Five hotels are hosting the exhibition “The Olympics by Sylvian The FishMan”, created by Sylvian Preziosa. His paintings on the theme of the Olympic Games are being exhibited from July 12 to August 11, 2024.
A few days before the kick-off of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, establishments of the HappyCulture group are exhibiting “The Olympics by Sylvian The FishMan”, created by Sylvian Preziosa, aka Sylvian The FishMan. He has imagined a series of 15 canvases in the colors of a selection of participating countries’ flags for the Olympic Games. Five hotels are hosting these paintings, with three artworks per establishment.
Ecological Artworks
The central theme of Sylvian Preziosa’s works is a fish. Globally known for his eco-friendly paintings, the artist recovers plastic waste from the sea. Thus, the materials used for this exhibition are naturally reclaimed: “Usually I paint on sails, here I created smaller formats but the cardboard used to make the flags was reclaimed, and the plastic, the CDs, all of that comes from the sea”. He then mixes them with paint. It is his very first small-format exhibition on a specific theme, here being the Olympic Games. The idea for the theme naturally came to him after one of his exhibitions two years ago. By giving the fish the impression of swimming in the flag, Sylvian The FishMan wanted to blend the sporty message of the Olympic Games with ecology.

Artworks with Meaning
Each flag has its fish with a different peculiarity. For some, the references are football-related like Germany or Italy: “I put blue because the Italian team’s jersey is azzurri, and being of Italian origin, it was dear to my heart to give this nod”. Others are references to the countries like Monaco, with its yellow fish, to remind of the Grimaldi family arms or Switzerland, with its green to recall the meadows: “We always say in Switzerland’s green pastures, and it contrasts with red and white”. His usual pop rock artistic style is also present in the artwork for England. His small logo called kingfish signs all his works.
One of the paintings, however, stands out in this collection as it features the colors of OGC Nice. Being from Nice, he aimed to pay a small tribute to the city. He even shares that this work will be donated to the town hall or the football team. Fans of his work can purchase these pieces for 550 euros each. However, they go quickly, as four were already sold in twenty minutes of the exhibition.
