The Alpes-Maritimes placed on drought alert

Latest News

The prefectural order is motivated by “a rainfall deficit of more than 30% on the coastal fringe with a decrease in river flow rates, associated with high temperatures, despite satisfactory autumn recharge,” according to the press release.

Weather forecasts seem to confirm the continuation of this hot and dry weather, in a context of increased withdrawals due to the rise in population during the summer period.

In this context, the risk of an aggravation of the drought situation during the summer cannot be ruled out.

The next prefectural committee will meet on July 12 and will decide on the usage restriction measures to be anticipated in the drought action plan currently under revision.
