The department has announced the construction or renovation of five middle schools and work in sixteen nursing homes by 2028.
Middle Schools
In total, 300 million euros have been allocated to the budget dedicated to the Alpes-Maritimes middle schools. 130 million euros will be used to <strong>build four new middle schools</strong>. The rest will allow <strong>Mougins</strong> to <strong>reconstruct</strong> the Campelières building, and for other institutions to <strong>revamp</strong> themselves in order to regain a certain freshness.
Renovations
The budget allocated for renovation will notably help five middle schools get new gymnasiums. This concerns those of “Gérard-Philippe in Cannes, Carnot in Grasse, Bellevue in Beausoleil, Les Bréguières in Cagnes, and Sidney-Bechet in Antibes” (according to information reported by Nice-Matin).
In Vence, twenty-four middle schools will be renovated, as well as the Freinet school. Among the work planned, fuel-fired boiler rooms will notably be replaced, and solar panels installed.
Constructions
The reconstruction of the Campelières middle school in Mougins will make it smaller. It will lose between 100 and 200 students.
- In Tourette-Levens, the René Cassin middle school is overcrowded. A new one will therefore be built in Levens. It will accommodate 400 students, including 40 boarders.
- 700 students will have the chance to discover a new institution, north of Saint-Laurent-du-Var. It might also include a high school.
- The same number of spots will be available at the future middle school of Saint-Isidore, on the left bank of the Var Plain.
- 700 students again, in the Paillon Valley, will be able to attend the new building of Nice East.
Restructuring of Nursing Homes
Sixteen nursing homes will be renovated initially (Bar-sur-Loup, Bendejun, Cagnes, Cannes, Gorbio, Grasse, Le Cannet, Mandelieu, Menton, Nice, Peille, Puget-Théniers, Vallauris, and Vence).
55 million euros will be used to improve the working conditions of employees and the lives of residents, according to the President of the Department.
The showers will be brought up to current standards and the rooms enlarged.
To continue helping the nursing homes to renovate, but also other public and associative entities, an engineering mission will be created.
