The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, presented the 2015 action plan of the City in health matters.
In March next year, a “health innovation demonstrator” hub will be inaugurated near the Pasteur University Hospital in Nice.
“The intention of Christian Estrosi is to create the European health city in the Pasteur district. It is a concentration of strength in research, education, and care. The mayor’s idea is to create an economic hub around this health sector, as at the same time, the question of rehabilitating the eastern district, which will find a new lease on life, arises,” explains Professor Olivier Guรฉrin, delegate for Health, prevention, and support of loss of autonomy.
The building is located at 27 Delvalle Street in Nice. It has been labeled by Europe. For Olivier Guรฉrin, this building is emblematic because it is a demonstrator for health innovation.
“You will see industrialists and startups coming to show the people of Nice what can be done for them in terms of innovation for their health and their autonomy at home. This innovation will be immediately available for the people of Nice,” he announces.
Health accessible to all
The health policy of the city of Nice aims to make health accessible to all. It revolves around three main axes. They concern the development of prevention actions, the improvement of the quality of life for people losing autonomy, and the development and support of health innovations.
Several actions will be carried out in terms of prevention, vaccination, and AIDS screening. Regarding people with Alzheimer’s disease, caregivers and those being cared for will be able to take a break in the “Animanice” leisure and activity centers. Patients will be taken care of by specialized teams. Fun activities and memory exercises will be offered to them.
Training in lifesaving gestures is also part of the program. It is estimated that 200 people die each year in Nice – 20,000 in France – when they shouldn’t if we knew how to perform CPR and use defibrillators.
“Nice is the city with the most defibrillators available in public places. Now, we need to train the population. People need to understand the importance of certain actions when cardiac arrest occurs,” emphasizes Professor Olivier Guรฉrin.
