This Thursday, the plenary session of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes was held. This session, presided over by Eric Ciotti, led to several decisions. Notably, there were two motions approved unanimously by the Assembly.
First of all, Eric Ciotti made a point to pay tribute to Raoul Mille, Brigitte Engerer, and Jacques Taddei. A minute of silence was observed by the general councilors.
After this moment of emotion, the session “really” began. The general councilors examined the administrative account for the year 2011. Eric Ciotti also congratulated himself on this report. “It reflects a very good management of our community. The departmental majority, alone, made responsible and courageous choices,” declared the President of the General Council proudly.
After presenting this report, the floor was given to Jacques Victor, the communist general councilor for the 3rd constituency of Nice. Jacques Victor criticized the UMP and declared, in particular, to be in favor of restoring the professional tax. For Eric Ciotti, this is out of the question. “The abolition of this professional tax brought 150 million euros to the Azurean companies. It would be ridiculous to reinstate it,” he explained.
Two motions approved
The session ended with the proposal of two motions. The first concerns the railway network. Eric Ciotti explained that the train line between Vintimille and Cuneo was constantly deteriorating. The General Council is asking for the Franco-Italian convention to relaunch a cross-border initiative and for RFF and RFI to come together to urgently establish a program of works to carry out to maintain the line in operation and to propose a schedule for its realization.
The second motion concerned the CRT. As we explained in our columns over the past weeks, the CRT Cรดte d’Azur is threatened: it might be that the CRT Cรดte d’Azur and the CRT Bouches-du-Rhรดne merge into one. The general councilors are unanimous: the Cรดte d’Azur must keep its CRT.
