This Monday, August 24, the health situation is considered worrisome by the Regional Health Agency of PACA in the Alpes-Maritimes. Two deaths related to Covid-19 have been recorded today, whereas no such deaths had been reported in the department for weeks. 13 clusters have been identified.
There is also concern about the incidence rate, meaning the number of new cases of people affected by the virus, which exceeds 100. The alert threshold is 50 per 100,000 people, which means that the department could move to the red alert level in the coming days.
The Regional Health Agency (ARS) gives an update this Monday: “Eight people are hospitalized in intensive care units in the Alpes-Maritimes, while no admissions had been recorded there for several weeks.
At the beginning of the month, only one or two people would present themselves there per day. We have more than twenty people hospitalized in infectious disease or medical services who have the virus.”
For Romain Alexandre, Director of the ARS 06 delegation: “When we analyze the clusters, regardless of their type, we realize that family gatherings and festive events are the origin of the contaminations.”
