Latest News

Starting for the first time in his career on the French national team, Sofiane Milous won gold in the ‐60 kg category. Sofiane Milous’s wonderful journey culminated in a European title this Thursday. The Frenchman, in the ‐60 kg category, had already eliminated the reigning World Champion Georgiy Zantaraya and then E. Verde, bronze medalist at the last world championships. Milous continued his incredible run in the final by defeating Austrian Ludwig Paischer, Olympic silver medalist, by waza-ari. This is the first title and the only medal for the French in these European Championships.

Silver medal in team competition

Once again, Sofiane Milous honored his selection in the French team alongside Teddy Riner. The French defeated the Italians and faced the Georgians in the final. Sofiane Milous scored the first point for France by defeating David Asumbani (winner of the Paris Tournament 2010), but the rest proved more challenging as Loïc Korval, Antoine Jeannin, and Romain Buffet were respectively defeated by Zara Kedelashvili, Levas Tsiklauri, and Varlam Liparteliani. Teddy Riner’s final victory against Lasha Gujejiani did not change the final result; France remained on the second step of the podium, bringing home the silver medal.
