The Music Festival in Nice: Between Cultural Communion and an Evening of All Dangers

Latest News

Last Thursday, the people of Nice were thrilled by the sounds of the Fête de la Musique. The Promenade des Anglais was crowded with people. Tourists and locals celebrated this unique event together.

“It’s a great opportunity to gather together and share good times. There are no longer any ethnic or social boundaries. We are all here to party.” This is how Loïc, a young student, describes the Fête de la Musique.

Whether on the beach or in pubs, the people of the French Riviera have the same thing in mind: having fun and enjoying themselves. And this felt in the narrow streets of Old Nice. Everyone talks to each other and celebrates the event together.

Music resonates in every corner of the city. You can go from a reggae vibe to an electro party in just a few meters. And the revelers are not complaining about it: “This is why we go out. There’s something for everyone, and that’s what the Fête de la Musique is all about,” says Solène, a tourist visiting the Côte d’Azur’s capital for a few days.

The Fête de la Musique, a night full of hazards.

While this event brings people together, it also records its fair share of issues. “With New Year’s Eve, it’s one of the nights with the most problems; we have to be very vigilant,” explains a police officer.

Alcohol-related problems aren’t the only ones; there are numerous cases of theft, assures the officer. “Thieves take advantage of people’s vulnerability; we can’t be everywhere, but we do our best,” assures the law enforcement personnel. Locals are cautious of these thefts and make the most out of this event.
