A rare event where beauty and high intensity are guaranteed. Divine Féminin is a musical drama in four scenes, created on September 26, 2009, at the Musica Festival in Strasbourg.

divine.jpg Dominique Lemonnier presents her second show here and revisits the theme of the eternal feminine under the artistic direction of Alexandre Desplat, along with videographer Ange Leccia, in a tribute to the artist most inspired by American film noir, the painter Jacques Monory.

For this show, composer Alexandre Desplat offers transcriptions of the most brilliant scores of American cinema, which have opened the doors of Hollywood to him, from Bernard Herrmann to Jerry Goldsmith, including Alex North and Philip Glass…

This exploration through the universe of film music will be performed by the Traffic Quintet, a string quintet, an innovative ensemble composed of a string quartet enhanced by a double bass.

Revisiting the Eternal Feminine

Whether they have been engrained in collective memory for a long time—from Marilyn Monroe to Ingrid Bergman to Maria Callas—or are on the verge of entering the pantheon today—like Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, and Isabelle Adjani—these female figures accompany us on a quest for the archaic and universal myth of Medea. Moreover, we will see Maria Callas again in her one and only film appearance, in the role of Medea, directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini. This musical figure serves as the guiding thread of Divine Féminin, a drama in four scenes, each opening with a fragment of “Medea Material” from the opera by Pascal Dusapin.
