The literary prize rewards a novel published in the twelve months preceding the Nice Book Festival, which will be held this year from June 2 to 4. Following deliberations that bring together a professional jury and a popular jury, the winner will be announced.

The jury will consist of 8 members, including its President Franz-Olivier Giesbert and Jean-Luc Gagliolo (municipal councilor delegated to literature), Irène Frain, Paule Constant, Laurent Seksik, Didier Van Cauwelaert, Aurélie Hustin de Gubernatis, and Nicolas Galup (Editor-in-Chief of Azur TV).

Each member of the Jury has chosen a book (it must be a novel), that they wish to see compete, and all eight books will be read by a panel of 10 Azureans (requirement to live in the department) selected from the submitted applications.

The 22nd Nice Baie des Anges Prize will be awarded on May 15 and presented to the lucky winner on June 2 at the Nice Book Festival.

The selection is as follows:

Saint Salopard by Barbara Israël

The Bureau of Gardens and Ponds by Didier Decoin

And If You Didn’t Exist by Claire Gallois

The Malaussène Case by Daniel Pennac

Dance at the Edge of the Abyss by Grégoire Delacourt

Almost Together by Marjoirie Philibert

The Painting by Laurence Venturi

Lean on Me by Serge Joncour
