The Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur Region inaugurated the Regional Assembly focused on the theme of democracy on February 16th in Nice.
To bring this debate closer to the citizens, the actors of democracy are invited to initiate their discussions by calling on “the Democratic Workshops.”
The Region hopes to contribute to creating a collective movement that fosters the expression of new forms of citizen participation.
These may serve to launch a participatory democracy debate on this subject.
Michel Vauzelle, President of the PACA Region, inaugurated these Regional Assemblies on January 16th; Patrick ALLEMAND and his fellow regional advisors, Annabelle JAEGER and Gรฉrard PIEL relaunched them today, mentioning the case of the National Interest Operation (O.I.N.) of the Plaine du Var, the future Eco-Valley.
Meetings will be held close to the citizens until May.
To prepare the diagnosis, the Region has initiated two opinion surveys. One was conducted with existing participatory bodies, and the other with the residents.
These notably help measure each individual’s perception of their region, their willingness to be involved in regional policies, and what may hinder that.
- The National Interest Operation appears to the populations as an abstract concept.
- The National Interest Operation “Eco-Valley” currently remains in great opacity.
- The regional workshops can be used to launch a participatory democracy debate on this subject.
- The organization of territorial or thematic democratic workshops can help outline the issues and can be used to launch a participatory democracy debate on this subject.
