The spirit of the NUITS DU SUD festival
Since its inception, the character of the festival is closely linked to the place where it is held, the Grand Jardin square, and the proposed pricing, averaging 13 euros.
The concerts take place in a village square surrounded by plane trees, restaurants, and bars. This environment creates a conviviality and closeness between the artists and the public.
Nuits du Sud creations!
In 12 years, the festival has won over an audience. Spectators who now trust the artistic proposals of Téo Saavedra.
Each concert evening is a surprising and bold invitation. Creating a meeting between the public and musical genres and cultures often removed from their environment is crucial. This confrontation with the other here is an opening, an enrichment.
Nuits du Sud are also a space for meeting and exchange.
This year, Les nuits du Sud aims to support and accompany artistic creation by fostering a meeting between two artists from distant horizons; Juan Carmona (flamenco guitarist – France) and Dominique Fillon (Latin jazz pianist – France).
During this 3-day in situ residency, an innovative artistic project will be born on Friday, July 31, on the stage of Nuits du Sud in Vence.
A Nuits du Sud show, enriching for both protagonists who will share their influences and musical cultures to propose a detonating fusion!
A Nuits du Sud – Vence show that will tour in France!
Reflection on music!
The municipal team will propose a cycle of reflection on the so-called world music with the theme: THE INFLUENCE OF MEDITERRANEAN CULTURE IN THE EVOLUTION OF WORLD MUSIC. A cycle of reflection will begin on June 19 and then in October 2009.
During these reflections, the study of the influences of Mediterranean culture in the various aspects of “world music” is announced; dance, music, singing, musical writing, instruments…
The objective is to encourage reflection and exchange by bringing together specialists from various horizons by invitation to enhance our understanding of our relationship with the Mediterranean. Invited will be musicologists, writers, journalists, decision-makers, and cultural actors.
The Nuits du Sud discoveries “Les Talents Nuits du Sud – Unisys”
The Nuits du Sud festival develops support for creation by offering its stage to emerging artists.
“Les Talents Nuits du Sud – Unisys” aim to distinguish and promote quality music groups, original in their artistic research, who at a critical point in their career need professional recognition to build their project.

This year, 10 groups will perform during two free concert evenings; July 16 and 23. Two awards will be given; the jury’s prize and the public’s prize. Partnerships with cultural structures such as A.D.E.M 06, Forum Jacques Prévert Carros, will allow offering dissemination on other stages during the year 2009-2010 to the winners.
