The release of their 3rd album “First Impressions of Earth” marks a significant evolution for the band, determined to stand out from the countless rock bands that followed this musical trend in the early 2000s.
Even before the release of their highly catchy first album, “Is This It”, The Strokes achieved a level of fame that many bands never see or only glimpse after three albums and extensive tours.
The quintet has already played in front of huge crowds in England. Venues with capacities of over a thousand people sell out, tickets are traded on the black market, the audience is hysterical, and VIPs are everywhere…
There are many reasons for the enthusiasm surrounding The Strokes:
They are young, photogenic, they have the look and the rock’n’roll attitude, and most importantly, their records are very successful. A mix of poignant guitars, simple chords, raw drums, muffled singing, and a raspy cat-like voice do the rest.
There is a tremendous energy in the compositions of this band: any normally constituted rock fan cannot help but shake uncontrollably while listening to them.
Singer Julian Casablancas has notably chosen to reveal his voice more, instead of hiding it under tons of effects, making his songs even more potent. Comfortable in lower tones, he does not hesitate to expose himself in the lyrics and, energized by such boldness, the band performs wonderfully.
Decidedly more new wave (in the good sense of the term) than the competition, The Strokes bring almost unique freshness and restore the nobility to power pop (somewhere between Blondie and Interpol).
They were headliners at the Reading Festival in August 2002 and played at Radio City Music Hall in New York with The White Stripes opening!
In 2006, they will be at the Zénith de Paris on June 29th, which is sold out!
On June 30th at the Eurockéennes de Belfort.
And on July 18th in Nice, at the Théâtre de Verdure… A major date!
