More than 4,000 students “competed” last year during the 2013 edition of the SWD.

This day is primarily reserved for first-year students, as the day is entirely set aside for them.

The Student Welcome Day is a challenge that pits different campuses of the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis against each other.

Each campus is assigned a color:

Blue: Law, ISEM, LASH, and IAE
Red: Health Pole and STAPS
Yellow: Sciences and private schools
Green: Polytech, MIAGE, and IUT
In the colors of their country: Special Erasmus

Throughout the day, campuses compete to win numerous prizes, but mainly to earn points for their campus.

This day is divided into three parts: A discovery rally, an inter-campus challenge (Nissaréna), and a closing party.

The Student Welcome Day begins with the traditional “Discovery Rally” through the city center of Nice. The start is at 10 a.m. on the square of the St Jean d’Angely Campus after speeches by representatives of institutions and the distribution of make-up and scarves in the colors of the campus represented by the students.

The principle of this first challenge is simple. Students in teams of up to 10 people are given a map showing the location of each riddle they must solve. The students must then complete the entire course and validate all steps.

The finish line is the Castle Hill of Nice. The first team to cross the finish line wins victory and numerous prizes. The Castle is also the final meeting place where all the students gather to share a moment of conviviality with music and the distribution of cool drinks included.

At 2 p.m., “Nissaréna” starts at the Acropolis. A crazy, entertaining, and totally lively sports afternoon where each student defends their campus colors. Throughout the afternoon, activities on inflatable structures are offered to participants (Mechanical Bull, Equalizer, Joust, Sweeper, Human Foosball, Sumos).

At 10 p.m., the closing party of this day will begin, and for the occasion, the Acropolis becomes the largest nightclub in the city with a capacity exceeding 4,000 people.
