To honor someone who has given so much to French rugby, the stadium located at Les Esperรจs now bears the name of this exceptional player.

The inauguration took place yesterday in the presence of Jean-Pierre Rives, the former captain of the French Rugby team.

Living legend of French rugby Jean-Pierre Rives, nicknamed “Golden Helmet” by journalist Roger Couderc, entered the rugby legend by winning the Five Nations Tournament with the French team in 1977. With this victory, he achieved the Grand Slam. Four years later, he repeated this performance.

In 1979, as captain, he and the Blues managed for the first time in their history to defeat the All Blacks on their own field.

After being one of the most influential advocates for France’s bid to host the Rugby World Cup in 2007, this great rugby player continues to achieve success: he now creates monumental sculptures in demand as far as California!
