In the context of the 3rd Côte d’Azur International Ficts Festival, the city of Antibes Juan-les-Pins and the Olympique d’Antibes Juan-les-Pins Basket club are organizing the screening of the film Semper Vivens (Always Alive) to celebrate 100 years of Antibes basketball and the 75th anniversary of the OAJLP club.
At the opening, the film “Olympic Values,” produced by the IOC, will be presented, highlighting the values of sport and Olympism.
The evening will take place tonight at 6:30 PM at Villa Eilenroc.
The goal of the authors, Jean-Marc Casabo, president of Olympique d’Antibes Juan-les-Pins Basket, and Sophie Jeanroy (co-producer), is to recount the unique history of basketball in Antibes and the Provence-Alpes Côte d’Azur region, closely tied to its inhabitants, including those in surrounding communities.
Interestingly, major historical events of the 20th century (World War I and II, the Popular Front…) have had a decisive influence on its history. Thus, various sequences in the film will address very diverse aspects: historical, of course, as well as sociological, political, economic, emotional, and naturally sporting.
Throughout the film, different sequences, archives, and period documents of basketball will be intertwined with commentary and interviews with personalities (former players, journalists, supporters, business leaders).
