Parking is one of the key elements in mobility policy because it helps to reduce car traffic and consequently greenhouse gas emissions.
In line with the recommendations of the Grenelle Environment Agreement, which encourages travelers to give up their cars in favor of public transportation, Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice and President of Nice Cรดte d’Azur, has chosen to experiment with “residential parking.”
This system, implemented in the paid parking zone bounded to the north by Boulevard Dubouchage, to the south by Avenue Saint-Jean-Baptiste, to the east by Boulevard Carabacel, and to the west by Avenue Jean Mรฉdecin, aims specifically to:
– Allow city center residents to park closer to their homes,
– Encourage the development of economic activities through better vehicle turnover on commercial streets,
– Reduce the permanent occupation of public space by โsuction cupโ cars.
The people of Nice are invited to come and get information at the Francis Gag Theater (4 rue Saint-Joseph in Nice) at 6 pm, Thursday, March 26, 2009.
