Due to the weather forecast from Mรฉtรฉo France announcing high temperatures in the coming days, the Regional Health Agency of Paca reminds everyone of the actions to take to protect themselves, especially the most vulnerable people (elderly, disabled, those ill at home, dependent individuals).
Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, stated: โI call on all citizens to be responsible and vigilant and advise them to take all necessary precautions. I encourage them to limit non-essential travel, to favor public transport (buses, trams, blue bikes…), and to use, if possible, electric vehicles like โAuto bleueโ.โ
Infants, young children, and adults (notably workers exposed to heat) also face the risk of dehydration because they sweat a lot to maintain their body temperature. Infants and young children should never be left in closed vehicles in direct sunlight, even for a few minutes.
To protect oneself from the heat, one must:
โ Keep the home cool (close windows and shutters during the day, open them in the evening and at night if cooler);
โ Drink water regularly and frequently without waiting to feel thirsty;
โ Refresh and wet the body several times a day;
โ Spend if possible 2 to 3 hours a day in a cool place (cinema, municipal library, supermarket…);
โ Avoid going out during the hottest hours and engaging in physical activity;
โ Remember to regularly update your loved ones about your well-being and ask for help when necessary, from your neighbors, local shopkeepers, or your doctor.
Municipal and metropolitan agents have been sensitized to limit their travel and be extremely vigilant with the most vulnerable people with whom they come into contact (in early childhood establishments and facilities for the elderly, people met during their awareness missions on beaches and in gardens โ for instance, seasonal employees of the Heatwave brigade, etc.);
