As every summer, the Front National of the Alpes-Maritimes organized its annual picnic on the public beach of Villeneuve-Loubet this Sunday, July 28.
This event was sponsored by Lydia Schenardi (SD of FN 06 and candidate in Menton) and Marie-Christine Arnautu (Candidate in Nice for the upcoming municipal elections and Vice-President of FN).
Most of the candidates supported by the Rassemblement Bleu Marine and the Front National were also present while the FN Caravan traveled along the seashore to meet the supporters.
During a stop at the Port of Nice, the “parachuted” candidate took the opportunity to open up and share her political thoughts.
“I started visiting the popular neighborhoods, meeting people, and understanding their problems. People are speaking out, expressing concern about the state of the City, particularly in the area of security,” she said.
To continue: “I am hopeful to achieve results that meet the expectations of all those who trust us.”
Being at the Port of Nice, two themes could not be missed in Christine Arnautu’s reflection: The tramway line 2 with its terminal at the Place de l’Ile-de-Beautรฉ and its positioning as the “sleeping beauty” (as the politician defined it) compared to the City’s tourist offer.
Regarding the former (which will undoubtedly be the mother of all battles during the upcoming municipal elections), the FN candidate condemned the plan of Nice’s mayor, Christian Estrosi, for excess costs (“We need to pay more attention to managing taxpayers’ money”) and revived the idea of a consultative referendum by proposing a rail replacement for the current dedicated bus line, at an estimated cost of 350 million euros, extending to the Riquier station.
“Moreover,” Madame Arnautu recalled, “arriving at the Port seems hardly compatible with the water table situation. Already, the ongoing underground parking works show that water infiltrations are likely.”
As for the “sleeping beauty,” the proposal is a coherent urban development in continuity with Rue Cassini and Place Garibaldi to give this area a real dynamic for nightlife, a sort of Spanish-style movida that tourists appreciate. Authenticity, dynamization, and attractiveness are the keywords of Marie-Christine Arnautu.
A delicate point was addressed candidly by the FN candidate, that of Jacques Peyrat: “The door is always open for the former Mayor of Nice to join our list. He will be warmly welcomed, honored for his past. As for the reverse, as I was told, I took it as a joke…”
“I can’t wait for the campaign to start, I’m eager. I won’t let anything stand in my way to succeed, I’ll be treated as a parachute candidate but I feel fully committed and already a bit… a Nissarte!”
Some additional information: the list composition is underway, and the names of the first 15 candidates will be made public in mid-September. Later, the candidate’s headquarters will open, and the campaign will kick into gear.
