A men’s night at the Nice Jazz Festival

Latest News

For the fourth evening of the Nice Jazz Festival, divas like Dee-Dee Bridgewater, China Moses, Erykah Badu, Selah Sue, and Beth Hart will give way to their male counterparts. On the Masséna stage, the Rosenberg Trio will be followed by Thomas Dutronc and Emir Kusturica, while on the Théâtre de Verdure stage, Sébastien Chaumont and his guests will open the show, followed by Ron Carter and the illustrious Ahmad Jamal.

First, it will be local musician Sébastien Chaumont, along with his musician friends, who will have the honor of opening the evening with a subtle mix of blues, soul, and swing that will undoubtedly delight the audience as they enjoy the last rays of the summer sun. Sébastien will be accompanied by Olivier Slama on piano, Sébastien Lamine on double bass, and Max Miguel on drums. Just after a brief intermission, a jazz legend will take the stage with Ron Carter for a double bass-piano-guitar trio that promises to light up the evening. At 75, Ron Carter will be joined by Russell Malone (guitar) and Mulgrew Miller (piano) in a set ranging from jazz to gospel, including rhythm and blues. Finally, another jazz icon, Ahmad Jamal, will present his new composition “Blue Moon” accompanied by Reginald Veal (double bass), Herlin Riley (drums), and Manolo Badrena (percussion). A jazzy program of the highest caliber for genre enthusiasts.

On the Masséna stage, it will be Gypsy Jazz that’s celebrated with the Rosenberg Trio, epitomizing the quintessence of gypsy jazz today. Stochelo Rosenberg (solo guitar), Nous’che Rosenberg (rhythm guitar), and Nonnie Rosenberg (double bass) will take you on a journey through technique, emotion, and virtuosity. After 250 tour dates and over 600,000 spectators, Thomas Dutronc has made a name for himself, with his latest album “Silence on tourne” delivering a subtle mix of rock, bossas, and irresistible swings. The evening will conclude with Emir Kusturica. As a filmmaker, actor, and musician, Emir Kusturica is one of the few musicians equally comfortable in gypsy and Roma music, country, musette, and, of course, rock. Emir Kusturica and The No Smoking Orchestra promises a musical firework display, performed by musicians who know no limits.

Another evening promises to be one of the hottest at the Albert 1er Garden, which once again is expected to leave its mark on this Nice Jazz Festival, which continues to set attendance and satisfaction records…
