Lou Passagin originally appeared to shorten the journeys of dockworkers who worked on the Dock of the Two Emmanuels. It was the 1920s. Until the 1960s, this service was very popular with residents and visitors, then it was abandoned.
But on June 8, 2012, thanks to the General Council that owns the department’s ports, this tradition was revived by reestablishing during the summer period this small boat allowing the crossing of the two shores of the Port of Nice.
The initiative was a success since from 16,834 passengers during the three summer months of 2012, the number increased to 39,063 in the last five months (May-October) of 2013.
Numbers that speak for themselves, except to note that the two peak months of the season (July and August) recorded a 48% increase over the previous year.
