On Saturday, September 8th, from 7 PM, it’s the 9th edition of the Nice Port Festival. Tastings and culinary discoveries, parades, music concerts, and activities for the “pitchouns” (little ones), the port of Nissa is ready to be celebrated in one of the most festive atmospheres.
It is the most important and awaited event after the Nice Carnival. For the occasion, the port becomes entirely pedestrianized and takes on the appearance of a grand popular event.
For the people of Nice, it’s about reclaiming their history, as it was built around the port; as the representative of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur C.C.I (Chamber of Commerce and Industry) reminds us.
“Between land and sea,” that’s the theme chosen for this new edition. Thus, Nice, bordered by its Mediterranean and its mountains, highlights the richness and diversity of its territory. It’s a territory but especially a heritage, with public interaction being the common thread in this event.
“The Village of Chefs,” which will set up at Quai Cassini, will be an occasion for a gastronomic tasting orchestrated by great local and regional chefs. These eleven chefs, ready to dazzle and surprise your eyes and taste buds, will have to prepare no fewer than seven hundred dishes each with their masterly hands.
Jacques Rolancy, the best craftsman of France and based in the musicians’ district of Nice, will be part of the event. He hopes the public “discovers in their own way each of the houses.” There is also the matter of “giving pleasure to those who may not be able to visit such restaurants” and “exchanging above all.”
On the side of Pascal Lac, a famous pastry chef based in Nice and a pioneer of the port festival, it is a pride to be part of this adventure. He will unveil his creations and emphasizes the “meeting with loyal clients as well as new ones,” as he doesn’t often have the opportunity “to interact with those who frequent his establishments.”
These great enthusiasts all share the same motivation: to serve the visitors, offer and certainly receive a beautiful lesson in sharing.
A diverse and varied feast, three different music stages, parades and activities for children, all this until 12:30 AM, so… Land ahoy, captain!
