Municipal Elections 2014: Campaign Highlights

Latest News

As every year, Nice Premium will delve into the heart of the various campaigns for the upcoming local elections in the Cรดte d’Azur region. Two major weekends will be dedicated to the two rounds, but while we await the trip to the polls, we offer you the chance to closely follow the news of candidates from Nice to Carros, including Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint Martin Vรฉsubie.

It’s confirmed, following last Saturday’s general assembly, the Greens have decided to form a joint list with the Socialist Party in Nice. “The Socialists need us. We would have liked to run with an independent list but we don’t have that option,” declared Jeannine Thiรฉmonge, the co-secretary for the departmental branch of the environmentalist party in the Cรดte d’Azur. A relief for Patrick Allemand who, aside from the Communist Party’s list, will at least not have to contend with another competing list.

Olivier, Marc, Benoรฎt… and the others?

It is almost no longer a rumor floating around in the Niรงoise conversations. A list composed of the three general councilors of Alpes-Maritimes (Olivier Bettati and Benoรฎt Kandel (UMP) and Marc Concas (PS)) could well become a reality in the coming days. However, it is whispered that some local elected officials and politicians are already on this list while others are making low-altitude approaches to, if not join it, understand what this new alliance will be. Jean-Christophe Picard (PRG) or Fabien Bรฉnard (Modem) could be involved. UMP, PS, PRG, and Modem, it’s United Colors of Nissa!

Carros rolls in “first”

In Carros, it will be a significant showdown between former first deputies of the city. On one side, Christine Charles, the current first deputy of Antoine Damiani, and on the other, the former first deputy with whom he broke ties in 2007, Charles Scibetta. The latter will run without a party label while the former will logically be endorsed by the outgoing PS mayor. A duel that will certainly not lack spice with two elected officials who have perfect knowledge of their city. It’s almost regrettable that they won’t be working together…

Trojani, Grosgogeat, Mangiapan, Cirasa, Bezzina… Traffic jam on the right for Villefranche!

A slew of (right-wing) candidates is promised for the Villefranche municipal elections. At the starting line, several forces present and different endorsements from Eric Ciotti, who supports Christophe Trojani, and Christian Estrosi, who is more of a supporter of Andrรฉ Bezzina. But, it will likely also be necessary to count on the outgoing mayor, Gรฉrard Grosgogeat, or even his first deputy, Jean-Pierre Mangiapan, who, if they do not have the support of metropolitan or departmental leaders, hope to count on that of the Villefranchoise and Villefranchois.
