On the occasion of Blue March, a month dedicated to raising awareness about colorectal cancer screening, the Antoine Lacassagne Center is taking action to remind people of the importance of screening and prevention and is organizing an event open to everyone on Monday, March 21.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in France, with 17,000 cases per year. However, if detected early through organized screening, it can be cured 9 times out of 10.
Organized screening is offered every 2 years between the ages of 50 and 74. It is a simple, quick, and effective test that can be done at home and helps detect a lesion before it develops into cancer or detects cancer at an early stage.
The Antoine-Lacassagne Center handles the medical treatment of colorectal cancer in partnership with Nice University Hospital for surgery.
In partnership with Aprรฉmas, the cancer screening coordination center, a public event will take place on Monday, March 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Antoine-Lacassagne Center.
On the agenda, nutritional advice, healthy recipes, and an information brochure about the benefits of a healthy and balanced diet in preventing colorectal cancer will be provided by the Center’s nutrition team, along with fresh fruit and vegetable juices.
Representatives from Aprรฉmas will be available to inform you about colorectal cancer screening.
The League Against Cancer and the France Colon Association will provide information on colorectal cancer.
Finally, at 3 p.m., CAMI Sport and Cancer will offer a physical activity workshop, discussing how engaging in regular physical activity can reduce the risk of cancer occurrence or recurrence.
