“Global Steak: Our Children Will Eat Crickets”
Documentary film followed by a debate

Speakers: Producers from the collective organic sales outlet Bio d’ici including Dominique Girod (livestock farmer), Cécile Roques (Agribio 06), Julien Buchert (APPAMi) to be confirmed.

The Alimenterre festival invites from October 15 to November 30, in France, Europe, and West Africa, to debates with specialists on agricultural and food issues between the North and the South, based on a selection of documentary films.
Each year, 5 to 6 films common to all are selected, addressing the agricultural and food issues between the North and the South.

While it draws somewhat alarming numerical conclusions – in 2050, meat production will need to double, reaching 36 billion livestock animals, to satisfy the 9 billion humans, all knowing that a French person devours 92 kilos of meat per year -, Global Steak is by no means an anti-meat pamphlet.

Yves-Marie Le Bourdonnec, a Breton butcher in search of exceptional meats and traditional skills, accompanies the viewer on this 90-minute initiatory journey into the world of meat, directed by Anthony Orliange. The expert unveils the hidden aspects of intensive farming during a visit to the agriculture show in Paris and reveals the origin of most supermarket ground beef.

This documentary addresses the global meat consumption issues from Colorado to the Aubrac, passing through the Amazon.
“Global Steak” will be a good platform to discuss with the general public the need to establish sustainable agriculture for food accessibility for all.

The speakers will be able to provide information on the characteristics of sheep farming in the Alpes-Maritimes and organic farming.
