Patrick Mottard returns to the theater with a political-fiction play.

Latest News

Patrick Mottard, a politician from Nice and a professor at the University of Nice, returns to us with a third role: that of a playwright. He presents his latest work with the direction of Bernard Gaigner and a captivating title: “1st of May, Maurice Thorez Square,” which will be presented to the public on May 8th at the Thรฉรขtre de lโ€™Eau Vive*.

The plot of the play revolves around a question that is both intriguing and worrying:

“And if, in 1944, Nice had been liberated by the Red Army? Perhaps Stalin would have transformed the Committee into a Soviet Republic, the Promenade des Anglais into Lenin Avenue, OGCN into Lokomotiv, and the Galeries Lafayette into GUM?

Maybe everyone would be under control on this May 1st, 1978, waiting, at Maurice Thorez Square, for the Fiftieth Anniversary parade? Maybe everything would change that day?”

You just have to come to one of the upcoming performances to satisfy your curiosity.

In the cast, we also find Frรฉdรฉrique Grรฉgoire-Concas, a former municipal councilor… a surprise? No, youโ€™ll see!

Isn’t it said that politics is sometimes a bit of a comedy? So why be surprised by the transition from words to actions…
