Joรซlle Martinaux and Jacques Dejeandile have officially opened the summer season of HandiPlages.

The city of Nice, through Joรซlle Martinaux, Deputy Delegate for Solidarity, Social Affairs, and Disabilities, and Jacques Dejeandile, Deputy Municipal Councilor for Events, has just launched the 2014 season of HandiPlages.

The azure city possesses two sites that can accommodate people with disabilities: the Promenade des Anglais beach and the Carras beach.

Inaugurated in 2009, these two locations are now equipped with adapted signage, a first aid post, nearby parking spaces, showers, restrooms, umbrellas, a ramp leading to the sea, and three tiralos (chairs that allow people with disabilities to swim). The Carras beach also benefits from a system of sound buoys, enabling people with visual impairments to swim independently.

Furthermore, ten handiplage staff members are present each day to welcome and assist disabled persons in entering the water.

These two handi beaches are part of the city of Niceโ€™s commitment to becoming a district where everyone can move around freely and without difficulty. The prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes has various projects in mind to achieve this goal, such as making the first floor of the Mediterranean University Center accessible, along with the Romain-Gary library, and the Church of the Vow. The city of Nice also aims to create an adapted cinema room within the South Station complex and to develop a hiking path for disabled individuals.
