We always remember Nice’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics. A bid that initially surprised but effectively charmed in a second phase.

The EB made its decision based on a technical analysis of the applications submitted by the applicant cities earlier in the year. The examination and subsequent report were conducted by a working group appointed by the IOC and comprised Olympic Games experts who assessed each applicant city’s capability to host successful Winter Olympics in 2022.
The technical evaluation was based on several criteria spanning a variety of areas including venues, transportation, accommodation, and safety.
The cities were invited to present a bid tailored to their realities and to submit projects reflecting how the Games could be beneficial to them and their region, offering a positive and sustainable legacy to their population. This is precisely what Oslo, Almaty, and Beijing have done.
