This Saturday, Place Pierre Gautier, located right in the heart of Cours Saleya, will host the Festa de la Sant-Bertoumiéu (Saint-Barthélemy) along with numerous local associations and artisans who will introduce you to the rich cultural, gastronomic, and sporting heritage.
Proof of this is with Le Cercle de la Capelina d’Or and Nissa Pilo, who will respectively offer their traditional pan bagnat at noon followed by a large snack provided by the City of Nice in the afternoon for the former, and for the latter, a big tournament (with free registration) and Pilo introductions on the Quai des États-Unis where the Pilodrome will be set up.
Two truly Niçoise associations that preserve two symbols of tradition: its cuisine and the most emblematic and oldest sport of the city. A task that unites both presidents, Franck Bermond for Capelina d’Or and André Giordan for Nissa Pilo, both also gathered under the Label Cuisine Nissarde, which labels restaurants offering Niçoise cuisine on their menu.
Before enjoying a good pan bagnat at noon, a little effort is required, and it’s on the Quai des États-Unis (near Opéra Plage) that the Pilo lessons for children and adults will take place, followed by team training for those participating in the afternoon tournament. A few juggling acts and maybe a swim later, it will be time to settle at Place Pierre Gautier to savor your delicious lunch.
Just enough time to digest, and it will be time to register for the big Pilo tournament for free starting at 1 pm: La Coupa Nissarda dou Pilou 2014. Expect a grand turnout with all the stars of this sport on the horizon. The tournament will start at 1:30 pm facing the deep blue sea and will end in the late afternoon. Just enough time to return to Place Pierre Gautier for the Grand Snack offered by the City of Nice and prepared by Le Cercle de la Capelina d’Or.
A grand baleti will follow, allowing you to end a day that it would be truly a pity to miss…
See you on Saturday!
