On the eve of the breast cancer awareness month campaign, “Pink October,” the Santa Maria Institute is offering new care starting from October 1st.
A personalized check-up and follow-up done in one day.
“The goal is to change the patient’s perspective on her illness and reduce anxiety,” explains the coordinating physician of the Surgery Department, Kaïs Razzouk.
Yesterday morning, at the Santa Maria Institute, the medical team presented “the new care organization for patients.”
“In the morning, we conduct a radiological exam and possibly a biopsy, which is analyzed right away. And by the afternoon, the diagnosis is made,” summarizes Bruno Borens, the coordinating physician of the Radiology Department. Before the implementation of the ‘One Day Breast Diagnosis,’ a very rapid care system, the diagnosis took about 3 to 4 days.
For women with breast cancer, the surgical operation also lasts only one day. “We want the patient to feel reassured and trust us.” This one-day surgery helps the patient feel less “pressure and anxiety.”
It should also be noted that each patient will have personalized follow-up and will be supported from the beginning to the post-cancer period. She will also be guided and advised in her daily and private life. “It is very important for us that the patient does not feel alone or lost.”
Currently, about 50,000 women in France are affected by these cancerous pathologies, with the cure rate ranging from 85% to 90%.
