This Monday, Eric Ciotti, representing Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, attended the launch of the 5th edition of the “Na Na Nère” festival for the show “Babayaga” staged by the Théâtre Chou company.
To launch the festival, Eric Ciotti reaffirmed the festival’s place in the departmental cultural offerings “aimed at families, in line with our community’s traditional competencies in health, social aid, and child protection.”
For 5 days, until March 12, children and parents are invited to the Laure Ecard hall and the Mercury cinema to share magic and emotions. The “pitchouns” can try their hand at theater, experiment with various instruments, or dive into the world of shadow puppets.
The goal of the Na Na Nère festival is to provide children with a cultural perspective through cinema, theater, shows, or various workshops in which they can participate throughout the week. “Our primary goal is to contribute to the child’s open-mindedness about the world and the imagination, as much as to stimulate emerging artistic talents through various modes of expression,” said Eric Ciotti.
“Babayaga” a family show
Vassilissa the Beautiful lived in a Russian countryside village, and when her wicked stepmother sends her to fetch a needle and thread from her aunt, she does not know she is heading to Babayaga, the terrible ogress. Thus began the story of the day: the show is performed by the Théâtre Chou company, which delighted young and old for this festival opening.
The program allows children, with humor and magic, to tackle current themes regarding environmental preservation or human relations at a time when the world is more connected than ever.
